World’s Largest Porsche Auction Comes to Hedingham Castle

1966 FIA Porsche 911 SWB Ex-Roy Lane

The world’s largest Porsche auction will be held by classic car auctioneers Coys on Sunday 6th September during the famous Porsche Classics at the Castle event in the grounds of the Hedingham Castle in Essex, United Kingdom.

In the year of the 60th anniversary of the very first production 356 Carrera the auctioneers have lined up a selection of 60 of the finest and most rare examples of the Stuttgart manufacturer, from the well-loved tractors through to the state of the art Carrera GT supercar, with particular attention on the classic and pure pre-1974 cars.

Chris Routledge, Managing Partner at Coys, said: “This year our prestigious auction is being held at one of the world’s most exclusive Porsche events and we have lined up a selection of cars with remarkable history and associations with some of the marque’s greatest moments and personalities.”

1960 Porsche 356 B T5 1600 Super Cabriolet

The auction will feature a 1966 FIA Porsche 911 SWB Ex-Roy Lane (top) with racing history being a British Hillclimb champion, which is estimated at £95,000 to £120,000, an original right hand drive 1960 Porsche 356 B T5 1600 Super Cabriolet (above), estimated at £140,000 to £160,000 and a 1959 Porsche 356 A Convertible D, estimated at £130,000 to £160,000.

The Vic Elford “Quick Vics” 911S Porsche

Amongst the pre-1974 cars, Porsche connoisseurs will find a 1970 Porsche 911S factory car known as the The Vic Elford “Quick Vics” 911S (above). Born in London, Vic Elford was one of the fastest drivers of the sixties and seventies and became a Porsche legend nicknamed “Quick Vic”. This car was assigned to him by Porsche KG Stuttgard as his daily company car. With remarkable documented history, it is one of the most exciting and interesting examples available on the market today.

1982 Porsche 911 3.0 SC ‘Rijkspolitie’ Dutch Police

Other important cars going under the hammer include a 1982 Porsche 911 3.0 SC ‘Rijkspolitie’ Dutch Police (above), a high speed pursuit vehicle estimated at £80,000 to £100,000, a 1994 Porsche 964 Speedster, one of just fourteen right hand drive cars produced, estimated at £160,000 to £180,000 and a 1956 Porsche 356 Carrera Coupe Grand Sport that spent 20 years in the well known Rene Mauries collection.

The auction will take place on Sun 6th September at 2:30pm (viewing Saturday 5th 12.00pm - 5.00pm) at Hedingham Castle, Halstead, Essex, CO9 3DJ.
