Thoroughbreds Lead the H&H 3 December Chateau Impney Sale

1927 Bentley 3 Litre Speed Model Tourer

With a line-up that includes a 1927 Bentley 3 Litre Speed Model (top), a 1969 Maserati Ghibli and a gorgeous 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4, H&H Classics has assembled a mouth-watering selection of the finest Grandes Marques for its forthcoming Chateau Impney auction.

The Ferrari (below) comes from the Weitzmann Collection and is just one of 31 such 163mph 2+2s sold new into the United Kingdom. Carrying an estimate of £190,000 - 210,000, the desirable GT offers genuine V12 performance from the ‘Enzo era’ of limited-production Ferrari road cars. Completing the 1970s feel, the Marrone Colorado supercar is equipped with a Voxson 8-track stereo.

From arch-rivals Maserati comes a wonderful metallic blue Ghibli (below). This big trans-European express has Borg Warner automatic transmission and is clearly intended for driving: the vendor visited the Le Mans Classic this year and took the opportunity of completing seven untroubled laps of the famous circuit. Estimate: £165,000 - 185,000.

Joining the Ferrari and Maserati are other desirable Italian classics at more affordable prices, cars such as the 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce (below), at £23,000 - 28,000. And who can resist an original Fiat 500? H&H will offer two, a 1970 500L for £4500 - 6500, and a £5000 - 7000, 1972 500F.

Consolidating H&H’s strong speciality in pre-War cars, on sale at Chateau Impney will be a fine 1927 Bentley 3 Litre Speed Model (below), estimated at £140,000 – 180,000. Rebodied, like so many ‘Cricklewood’ Bentleys, with sporting open four-seat tourer coachwork in the 1960s, the gently patinated car is rare in having matching chassis and engine numbers.

Accompanying the imposing British Racing Green Bentley is another H&H favourite, a 1931 Lagonda 2 Litre Low-Chassis Speed Model Tourer (below). With a fascinating history that includes ownership by an Eton schoolmaster, the sporting tourer has an estimate of £65,000 – 75,000.
