Sunny Classics in Berkshire

West Berkshire Vehicle Club brought the sun and a host of classics to Newbury Racecourse

West Berkshire Classic Vehicle Show 2013A host of clubs and individual owners joined together under the organisation of the West Berkshire Vehicle Club to put on a fantastic classic vehicle event in the grounds of Newbury Racecourse.

With the Little Classics Spitfire feeling a bit sorry for itself (literally spitting fire), I trundled off down the M4 in more modern wheels to see what was going on.

On first entering the show you are greeted by a lovingly replicated racing Lagonda, alongside a pristine MGA, a handsome and original Fiat 500 and a rather lived in, but hugely desirable Austin Healey.

West Berkshire Classic Vehicle Show 2013 Austin HealeyStraight away you can tell that this show has a bit of everything.

The show was split up with club stands exhibiting a range of member cars, with a large central area exhibiting a mishmash or everything from Ford Capris to steamrollers.

It had something for everyone – with an estimated 800 exhibits.

After being somewhat distracted by the Triumph Sport Six Club car selection and the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club, the day disappeared quickly.

West Berkshire Classic Vehicle Show 2013 overviewA few star picks from the show were a wonderfully original Wankel Rotary Norton speedway bike, a rather cute Morris camper and a very well looked after Ford Model T.

This is an annual even that raises money for the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Fund. A well-attended event, fabulous exhibits and a good cause – all in delightful surroundings and in lovely weather. There are worse days to have.

We look forward to next year.
